Holla, I finally finished setting up the public-inbox server at loa.loang.net. It will replace lists.sr.ht as the official host for our mailing list. Unlike other mailing list software, public-inbox does not push new messages to subscribers' inbox, but let them pull updates through various means, as currently set up, IMAP, Atom feed and HTML archives. Not only this ``pull'' model is cheaper to operate, but also readers can subscribe or unsubscribe without any explicit action from the server. The new list's address is chung@loa.loang.net and the recommended subscription method (for the ease of responding) is directly through IMAP at imap://;AUTH=ANONYMOUS@loa.loang.net/inbox.chung.0 Any username:password works, even though https://public-inbox.org/README recommends AUTH=ANONYMOUS. Each inbox number, starting at 0, is for a bucket of 50 thousand messages. Alternatively, a web interface is available at https://loa.loang.net/chung with an Atom feed of the 25 most recent messages: https://loa.loang.net/chung/new.atom Since the list is rather low-traffic and to ease the transition, I will keep sending out carbon copies to ~cnx/loang@lists.sr.ht until the end of May, 2024. From June, announcements will only be sent to chung@loa.loang.net. If you use a service provided at loang.net, please subscribe the new list for user-facing updates, including downtimes. Please reply to this announcement if you have any trouble in subscribing to the mailing list. Questions and comments are also welcomed. Cheers, ~cnx
